Barnard College is launching a national search for a new Dean of the College. A Search Advisory Committee has been formed, including faculty, staff and students. The College has retained the search firm Isaacson, Miller to assist with the process.
The Dean of the College reports directly to President Sian Leah Beilock and, as a senior college official, works closely with the President in determining student-related strategic goals and policy. The Dean collaborates with colleagues across the College and University communities on student matters. The Office of the Dean of the College comprises the following areas: The Office of the Dean of Studies; Registrar; Beyond Barnard (jointly with the Provost’s Office); Campus Life; Residential life and Housing; Health and Wellness; and Title IX and Equity.
The Search Advisory Committee will query the campus community on what qualities and experiences they hope the new Dean will bring. Once this initial process is complete, the position profile will be posted on this website and on the website of Isaacson, Miller. We envision that the process will include committee meetings to review the candidate materials, interviews by the committee, and for finalists, on-campus visits. On-campus visits will include conversations with a broad range of campus constituents.
In addition to the information below, members of the Barnard community can email DOCsearch@barnard.edu to provide thoughts or other input to be shared with the Search Advisory Committee.
Please check back regularly for updates on the search for a new Dean of the College.
