Join us for a screening of the most-watched Brazilian documentary of 2013. Described as a film that provokes "60 insights per minute," ELENA tells the story of a theatre actress who at 19 moved to New York in pursuit of her dream of becoming a film actress, leaving behind Brazil, a youth spent in hiding during the military dictatorship, and her 7-year-old sister, Petra. Two decades later, Petra sets off on a journey in search of her sister.

The screening will be followed by a discussion at 8 PM titled "Women and Narrative," featuring director Petra Costa '06 and professors Mary Gordon and Marie Reagan.
