DB LEONARD is a Singer and Parlor Guitar Player and a Teller of Tall Tales.
For over a decade he has taught the widest range of students how to find their voice through a wholly original method incorporating the guitar and voice. DB has been a faculty member at the 92nd Street Y School of Music in Manhattan, the Castle School in Cambridge and the New England School for Little Wanderers, and an instructor at Barnard College.
In a relaxed and supportive environment, learn the basics of playing the guitar. Through an all original curriculum of Picking Patterns, Strumming Patterns and Chord Progressions, we will expand your music vocabulary to the point of playing and singing songs by your favorite artists. We will also learn the basics of reading music, tablature and playing notes.
For this class, no previous experience is necessary. Please bring a guitar, case, pick and tuner to class.
In a supportive and collaborative atmosphere, we will explore intermediate guitar techniques, such as Picking and Strumming Patterns as well as more advanced Chord Progressions. With this additional vocabulary, we will focus on the Art of the Song. Here we will analyze the different parts that make up a song, and through an original method focusing on personal expression, begin the process of writing our own.
For those who have completed the BEGINNER GUITAR CLASS or who have studied guitar privately. Please bring a guitar, case, pick and tuner to class.
