News from Global Barnard

For almost a decade, the Athena Center for Leadership Studies has dedicated itself to the advancement of inspired and courageous women leaders around the world.

Every year, Barnard faculty lead students on trips outside New York City—often outside the United States—to conduct research, perform, and expand teaching and learning opportunities.

Over the past decade, the Barnard curriculum has expanded its global influence by increasing opportunities for faculty and students to gain educational, work, and volunteer experience.

In its eighth year, the Global Symposium traveled to Paris. Barnard College gathered a group of prominent leaders from across the region to discuss some of the current events and rapidly changing policies that are influencing women’s roles throughout Europe.

The 7th annual Global Symposium took place on March 13 and was held on campus for the first time, in honor of Barnard's 125th anniversary. Featured speakers included Queen Noor of Jordan and Nobel-Prize winner Leymah Gbowee.
