A recent New York Times feature about women professionals rejoining the workforce noted Barnard among a group of institutions that are making a concerted effort to provide avenues of reentry to professional life. Virginia Ryan, a Barnard alumna and lawyer, held an internship in Barnard’s office of the general counsel to refresh her skills.

The article reads, “[Ms. Ryan] signed up for Pace Law School’s New Directions program, which helps experienced lawyers refresh their skills and find internships. She landed one at Barnard College, where she had received her B.A. Now, Ms. Ryan is working there part time and also has a part-time job at Columbia University, not far from her Upper West Side home.”
