The following email was sent to the Barnard community on Nov. 5, 2018:

Dear Members of the Barnard Community,

We are pleased to announce the Barnard Inclusion Grant, a new initiative by Barnard’s Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to finance projects and events that help enhance inclusion efforts across our community.

This grant fund, administered through the Council, is open to all faculty, staff, and students. You are invited to submit a proposal that will help foster inclusion, belonging, and equity in our community. Ideas may include speakers and performances; seminars and workshops; gatherings that bring together distinct constituencies for discussion and relationship building; as well as other programming and initiatives.

Members of the Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will evaluate the proposals and select several for implementation over the coming months. Please note, another round of proposals will be accepted during the Spring semester.

The application for the Barnard Inclusion Grant can be found here, and applications are due by 5 p.m. Monday, November 26.  The proposals must include:

  • a statement of purpose/description of the project;
  • a narrative explaining how the project will further the goals of enhancing inclusion across campus, and whether the effort is envisioned as a one-time event or a recurring one into the future;
  • an estimate of the number of people the project expects to serve;
  • a proposed budget.

The Council will make final funding allocation decisions by December 7.

For questions, please email diversitycouncil@barnard.edu. We’re looking forward to reviewing the thoughtful proposals submitted by our Barnard community.

Sincerely,

Yvette Christianse
Interim Chair, Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
