Jumpstart for Public Interest Careers

Jumpstart for Public Interest Careers
Are you considering pursuing a career in the public interest sector (i.e. working for a non-profit or governmental organization)?  Are you looking for more guidance about how to break into the public interest field?  Would you like to learn more about the types of career options that are available within the public interest sector?
If so, then BCD's Jumpstart for Public Interest Careers is for you!  The Jumpstart for Public Interest Careers  is a day-long series of workshops led by Barnard alumnae and other practitioners working in various public interest capacities.  This Jumpstart will offer students pragmatic information about pursuing internships and entry level positions in the public sector, as well as the opportunity to network with an array of public sector practitioners.  Participation in this program will enhance a student's chances of receiving a shadowing, volunteer, internship, or permanent opportunity in the industry.  The Jumpstart will also offer guidance about pursing specific career paths within the public interest sector, including:

  • Community organizing
  • Human rights
  • Fundraising/philanthropy
  • International/non-governmental work
