Barnard College announced on May 2, 2019, that Ariana González Stokas was selected for the newly created position of Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, beginning July 1, 2019. A Search Advisory Committee composed of faculty, staff and students had guided the process, which began in 2018, with the search firm Spelman and Johnson assisting.

Barnard College is pleased to announce that Ariana González Stokas serves as its inaugural Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She reports directly to President Sian Leah Beilock as a valued member of Barnard’s senior leadership team. González Stokas will partner with constituencies campuswide to provide a strategic vision for the College, working with all to bring about institutional change. An accomplished strategist, administrator, and community builder, González Stokas will translate the ideals and goals that the Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion set forth into substantive, transformative policies and practices for everyone at Barnard.
The College welcomes ideas and concerns from the campus community for the new Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as we continue to build on the Council’s work.
