On February 13, 2024, Erika Kitzmiller, term assistant professor of education, received the Civic and Voter Engagement Fellowship Award from Project Pericles.

Sponsored by the Mellon Foundation and the Eugene M. Lang Foundation, the award is part of Project Pericles’ Deliberative Dialogue program. The program empowers faculty, staff, and students to effectively engage with relevant social justice issues, and aims to demonstrate the relevance of the humanities in addressing real-world issues. As a fellow and awardee, Kitzmiller will receive a grant of $1,000 for her Spring 2024 course “Education in a Polarized and Unequal Society & Education Policy: New York City COVID-19/Climate Crises.” Kitzmiller will use the grant in this course to implement and provide feedback on the resources and materials that Project Pericles developed around voting rights and civic engagement.
