Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.
Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information.
The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9. The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.
Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed. The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open. Minor Permission Form (PDF)
Students may not bring children under the age of 13 into the residence halls without having their parent (of legal age) or legal guardian being present with the minor at all times. Any person between the ages of 13-16 years may visit a Barnard/Columbia student in the Barnard residence halls as long as written permission (using the form linked above) has been granted from the minor's parent or legal guardian.
Note: Minors are not allowed as guests during the following time periods: Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break.
The parent or legal guardian may complete the Minor Permission Form (PDF) and mail, scan/email as a PDF or JPG to housing@barnard.edu, or fax it (212-854-1561) to the Residential Life & Housing office. All signed forms must be submitted to the office no later than noon of the business day prior to the date of visitation.
When persons in this age group visit a residence hall, they must be accompanied by their student host at all times while they are in the buildings or on campus.
