What is a challenge that you’ve overcome in your career?

After being a reporter for a while, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but had become stagnant, I wanted to shift into something a bit more stable, differently challenging, and entrepreneurial. So I became a fellow at a program through CUNY, where I learned new skills and refreshed myself in areas I had become rusty. This fellowship program gave me the tools needed to catapult me into my current career path, showing me a new way to be a storyteller.

What’s important to you in life outside of work?

I love:

  • Traveling. I always take time to leave the country to learn about myself in new spaces, learn about new cultures, and eat new foods. But I also like to explore domestically because this country is so vast.
  • Hiking. Some of my favorite spots include Kaaterskill Falls in Upstate New York, Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia, anywhere in the Moab desert in Utah, Santa Paula Punch Bowls in California.
  • Eating. Food is good and I love sharing meals with my community.
